Sherbrooke

The youth organization Maison Jeunes-Est is the first Pathways Program Partner with an alternate delivery model. They deliver an adapted version of the Pathways Program to two cohorts of Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 students in the eastern part of the city of Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Called Accès 5, the Program supports 70 students who come from a disadvantaged borough and have been referred by the local elementary schools. They all attend La Montée high school.

Supports include tutoring, group mentoring activities, and financial assistance. Youth workers will also give continuous support to the students throughout the duration of their high school education.

Accès 5 is a pilot Program and the local centre has partnered with the University of Sherbrooke to include thorough program evaluation of the practices and outcomes.

Founded in 1983, Maison Jeunes-Est offers an array of services to young people between the ages of 12 to 19, including a safe house and a youth centre. The organization works with about 1,200 youth each year.
