Pathways to Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharif Mahdy as Chief Operating Officer.

Sharif brings a strong track record of leadership focused on improving outcomes for young people across Canada. For more than eight years, he served as CEO of the Students Commission of Canada, a national inter-generational charitable organization that works to ensure young people’s voices are heard and valued so that their ideas can be put into action.

Sharif also brings extensive governance experience across the youth-serving sector. He currently serves as Chair of the National Alliance of Children and Youth (NACY), a national network dedicated to advancing the well-being of children and youth. He also sits on several non-profit boards, including the Child Development Institute, and Mentor Canada.

Sharif is widely respected in the sector for his collaborative leadership style and his ability to connect strategy with execution, with a focus on building inclusive organizations that reflect community voice.

At Pathways to Education, Sharif will lead major portfolios including operations, finance, EDI, and government relations, strengthening the organization’s ability to deliver sustainable impact. As the barriers facing youth grow increasingly complex, Sharif’s expertise will help strengthen the systems, people, and processes needed to ensure Pathways to Education continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of students and communities.
