About Pathways to Education Canada

We’re looking for someone who can change the paradigm for Canadian youth living in poverty. Someone who enjoys building partnerships, making an impact, and working with energetic, high-performing teams. Is that you?

Pathways to Education is a national, charitable organization breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Its award-winning program is creating positive social change by supporting youth living in low-income communities to overcome barriers to education, graduate from high school, and build the foundation for a successful future. Through the collective power of partnerships, Pathways to Education’s innovative program is preparing youth for tomorrow.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the Alumni Engagement team, which is part of the broader Marketing & Communications department, you will carry out Pathways’ alumni engagement strategy, ensuring meaningful and mission-aligned engagement for alumni of the program. You will support a diverse Pathways Alumni Network and provide meaningful engagement across the country. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Alumni Engagement, you will also coordinate across the Pathways network to facilitate and support program sustainability while strengthening communities.

As the successful candidate, you bring experience in operationalizing alumni engagement, event planning and logistics, interacting with volunteers, and project management. You are able to lead colleagues and alumni volunteers when needed to conduct activities that play a pivotal part in the implementation of the alumni engagement strategy.

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate the coordination of all Pathways Alumni Network activities and events (i.e., serving as the primary liaison between Pathways Canada and alumni, enhancing existing alumni relations activities to engage local and national alumni communities).
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across a variety of departments at Pathways Canada and staff at program locations to support and facilitate alumni network events and activities.
  • Identify and implement processes and procedures to streamline day-to-day alumni engagement activities.
  • Create and produce marketing and communications materials for alumni on all platforms (social media, web, print, newsletter, job board, video, and email); ensure all materials are in alignment with Pathways brand guidelines.
  • Gather, track, and share feedback and information from alumni regarding their interests and needs to help inform the continuous improvement of alumni supports and decision-making within Pathways Canada and the broader Pathways network.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following: community outreach and engagement, volunteer engagement, partnership building, and relationship management preferably with non-profit organizations (e.g., youth programming, alumni or member relations).
  • 2+ years’ experience in one or more of the following: event planning/execution, project management, and alumni, programming, or client service delivery.
  • 1+ years’ experience facilitating large-scale projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal inclusive communication skills, with strong situational awareness.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, CRM software, email distribution platforms, and survey platforms.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Pathways Program and/or the systemic barriers faced by youth living in low-income communities.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.

Please note: In order to best meet the availability of alumni and the communities Pathways serves, the successful candidate must be willing to occasionally flex standard hours when supporting alumni events and activities during the evening or weekend. Travel within Canada is also to be expected.
