The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Vice President & Chief Development Officer the Director, Fundraising Operations plays a key role in strategy development, prospect and donor data management and the oversight of key metrics, and goals. The Director, Fundraising Operations provides strategic and informed counsel to the Vice President & Chief Development Officer (VP&CDO) based on the analysis of financial results, assessment of donor giving trends and measurement of Resource Development fundraising activity. The role drives donor activity by setting appropriate departmental goals and monitoring staff activity against departmental KPO’s. They will be joining at an exciting time with the development of a new fundraising plan that accompanies the outcomes articulated in a newly approved strategic plan.
The Director has both an internal and external “client service” philosophy and focus. They provide leadership, direction, and support to fundraising colleagues as well as coworkers across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and communicate the annual operational plan (revenue, budget, activities) for resource development department, in collaboration with the VP & Chief Development Officer and in partnership with the finance department.
- Co-create and monitor performance goals and metrics for the department related to revenue and
- Monitor the progress of RD staff team activities against departmental Key Performance Objectives (KPOs), initiating and identify trends, risks and
- Forecast and analyze revenue against goal to support strategic decision making
- Oversee the donations acceptance process including maintenance of donation records and the processing of all contributions and official receipts for income tax purposes.
- Oversee the prospect management systems including prospect research, relationship management and prospect
- Acts as a representative for Resource Development and collaborates with other departments, specifically (but not limited to) finance, business intelligence, human resources, and the project management office; ensuring the flow of information to fulfil strategy and key performance objectives.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience, of which 5 years should be in a complex fundraising environment, specifically major giving; with campaign experience an
- The ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and evaluate information, identifying insights and key
- Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to make recommendations within the context of a strategic
- Diplomatic and comfortable negotiating deadlines and deliverables with internal staff
- Ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders at various levels throughout the
- Curious, innovative and learner
- High degree of comfort and aptitude with
- Advanced knowledge in Raiser’s Edge NXT, and solid understanding of Power Automate and Power
