The Return On Investment

An investment in education, and in the Pathways to Education ProgramTM, provides tremendous economic returns to society. In 2007, and again in 2010, the Boston Consulting Group undertook a pro bono analysis of the Pathways Program which included an objective verification of the Program’s societal return on investment.

With a focus on identifiable and quantifiable benefits, primarily higher taxes paid, and reduced government transfer payments, conclusions about the Program’s direct impact on society are impressive and include:

  • A return on investment of $24 for every $1 invested in Pathways
  • A cumulative lifetime benefit to society of $600,000 for every Pathways graduate
  • Contributing to better life expectancy and health outcomes; high school graduates have lower incidence of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and smoking-related disease
