An investment in education, and in the Pathways Program, provides tremendous economic returns to society. In 2007, and again in 2010, the Boston Consulting Group undertook a pro bono analysis of the Pathways Program which included an objective verification of the Program’s societal return on investment.
With a focus on identifiable and quantifiable benefits, primarily higher taxes paid, and reduced government transfer payments, conclusions about the Program’s direct impact on society are impressive and include:
- A return on investment of $24 for every $1 invested in Pathways
- A cumulative lifetime benefit to society of $600,000 for every Pathways graduate
- Contributing to better life expectancy and health outcomes; high school graduates have lower incidence of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and smoking-related disease.
