About Pathways to Education

We’re looking for someone who can change the paradigm for Canadian youth living in poverty. Someone who enjoys building partnerships, making an impact, and working with energetic, high-performing teams. Is that you?

Pathways to Education is a national, charitable organization breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Its award-winning program is creating positive social change by supporting youth living in low-income communities to overcome barriers to education, graduate from high school, and build the foundation for a successful future. Through the collective power of partnerships, Pathways to Education’s innovative program is preparing youth for tomorrow.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the Resource Development team, you will help support Pathways Canada’s Quebec-based development objectives to enable the delivery and growth of the Pathways Program in the province. Reporting to the Director of Development, you will manage the Quebec portfolio of major-gift prospects and engage in direct outreach to donors predominantly from the $10,000 – $100,000 funding level. You’ll contribute to building strong and impactful relationships with key funders and prospective donors by creating compelling proposals and reports in both official languages (English and French).

As the successful candidate, you bring demonstrated experience in writing funding proposals and familiarity with donor management CRM software. You possess excellent organizational and project management skills, enjoy collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and want to make a positive impact by creating strong content in support of young people across Canada.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the Quebec portfolio of foundation and individual philanthropists to secure funding commitments and pledges through effective research, stewardship, and reporting.
  • Create meaningful and consistent engagement of both prospective and existing major gift donors in Quebec by creating and executing excellent cultivation and stewardship strategies and activities.
  • Grow the pipeline of individual and foundation prospects and donors in Quebec through the development and delivery of compelling proposals, cultivation meetings, and other materials that align potential partners’ objectives with the Pathways mission.
  • Lead the seamless administration of Quebec donor commitments, including drafting gift agreements, ensuring timely gift processing, and tracking engagement activities in the donor database.
  • Support the Quebec Philanthropy team in securing multi-year and unrestricted financial commitments from individual and foundation donors.
  • Collaborate with the Individual Philanthropy team and other internal departments to support the mass market and mid-level growth strategy and the end-of-year campaign, and additional projects with volunteer fundraisers.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of related fundraising experience, including experience in major gift fundraising.
  • University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both French and English, with demonstrated success in writing compelling donor proposals and reports and persuasive writing.
  • Excellent research, relationship-building, and collaboration skills; with the capacity to communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite to create impactful reports and presentations; experience with Raiser’s Edge CRM software is considered an asset.

What We Offer

  • An exciting opportunity to be part of a leading not-for-profit dedicated to excellence and impact.
  • A collaborative work environment with a culture of innovation.
  • Opportunities for learning and professional development.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Generous vacation and health benefits package.
  • Group RRSP program.
